Richard Whidden spoke on Tuesday, December 6 on behalf of the National Law Center as a panelist for a presentation entitled “Local Government Regulation of Sex Offenders: Balancing Community Safety and Offenders’ Rights.”
The 90-minute CLE program was a production of the International Municipal Lawyers Association and Municipal Litigation Reporter and looked at local ordinances regulating residency of registered sex offenders as well as ordinances restricting access of sex offenders to city parks. Other speakers included city attorneys from cities which have enacted such ordinances. A CD-ROM of the full conference will be available for three weeks following the conference.
