Dallas Police Department Recognized as Child Defenders of the Month Print E-mail

downloaded_4-3-07_203Members of the Dallas Police Department's Sex Offender Apprehension Program (SOAP) were recognized as the March 2007 Child Defenders of the Month in recognition of their many efforts to protect children and monitor sex offenders.

The NLC is proud to recognize the efforts of the Dallas Police Department and the SOAP program, which has developed into a nationwide model for effectively monitoring and apprehending sex offenders. The SOAP program works to insure the timely arrest of sex offenders for registration law violations, probation and parole warrants, and arrest warrants.  

 The award was presented to Dallas Police Chief David Kunkle and members of the SOAP program staff by NLC Executive Director Richard Whidden at a ceremony on March 28, 2007.

The National Law Center for Children and Families was represented at the National Symposium on Child Abuse from March 17-20 in Huntsville, Alabama.  Hosted by the National Children's Advocacy Center, the Symposium drew child advocates, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors from across the country.
