27 charged in child pornography ring Print E-mail

The NLC applauds the efforts of the Department of Justice and international authorities in an online child pornography sting which resulted in charges being filed against 27 people. Federal authorities announced March 15 that arrests have been made in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New York, North Carolina and Tennessee following an investigation lead by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. “The commitment of DOJ and law enforcement to seek out child pornography cases is encouraging,” commented Keely Knipling, NLC’s associate counsel, “and even more encouraging is the international cooperation evident in this case, which involved some of the most despicable acts conceivable. Child pornography is a horrific global problem that requires orchestrated efforts on the part of law enforcement around the globe. The NLC is hopeful that this type of operation will become more prevalent in this area and for other child sexual exploitation crimes.”

nashville2photo.jpgThe National Law Center for Children and Families held its 19th PROTECTS seminar in Franklin, Tennessee on November 4th and 5th. A total of 53 law enforcement officers, prosecutors and probation and parole officers attended the event which took place at the Embassy Suites Hotel: Nashville South-Cool Springs. Another attendee found that the contacts they made with other agencies was a particular highlight of the program.

The National Law Center would like to show its appreciation to all participants, speakers and expo partners - AccessData , Pen-Link , Rimage and Thomson Reuters - who made this event a triumph.
