Phoenix NLC PROTECTS Seminar a Success Print E-mail

ImageThe second seminar of the National Law Center’s new seminar series, “NLC PROTECTS” was met with success and very positive feedback. The seminar was held in Phoenix, Arizona on August 8th and 9th, 2006. The NLC recruited the nation’s experts on obscenity and child sexual exploitation to teach more than 50 prosecutors and law enforcement officerson how best to protect our children and families. Commented one officer, "it is a good overview of the problem and also [provides] good information on the resources available to combat the problem."

The NLC PROTECTS Seminars are designed to provide introductory-level material on a wide variety of issues such as obscenity, child pornography, online enticement, Internet forensics, and trafficking. There are two main goals to this approach: to show the link between all crimes of sexual exploitation and to educate the attendees about the true nature of prosecutable obscenity. The NLC is currently preparing for seminars in Salt Lake City September 26-27 and in Louisville, Kentucky in January. Over the course of the next two years, the NLC will produce 12 additional seminars throughout the country.
