NLC presents to Connecticut Municipal Attorneys |
|
|
|
Executive Director Richard Whidden spoke at the January meeting of the Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys (CAMA) on the topic of local government sex offender regulation. The talk was held presented in Middletown, Connecticut on January 25. Mr. Whidden spoke on the case law and current legal methods used by local governments to address convicted sex offenders in their communities.
The talk was timely since one Connecticut community, Danbury, adopted a safe zone ordinance which is reported in a recent news article which also highlights Mr. Whidden's presentation.

The NLC was featured in guest blogger Adam Palmer's Weblog at
washingtonpost.com.
Adam Palmer is an attorney and an expert in Internet governance, cyber security
and e-commerce, as well as a tireless warrior fighting to protect kids from
Internet exploitation. As a guest blogger for the Washington Post, Palmer will
address his daily work which includes teaching prosecutorial strategies for convicting child
predators, particularly producers and consumers of child pornography.
In his initial post, Palmer singled out the NLC for its leadership in
supporting and educating prosecutors and law enforcement about this oft-ignored subject.
