Franklin Tennessee SVU presented Child Defender Award

In a ceremony held Sept. 30 at the Franklin Police Department, Richard Whidden, the Executive Director and Senior Counsel of the National Law Center for Children and Families presented the Criminal Investigation Division's Special Victims Unit with the Child Defender Award.

Detective Sergeant Eric Anderson heads the Special Victim's Unit, comprised of four detectives. Detectives Becky Johnson and Tamara Smith specialize in investigating child sex and physical abuse cases as well as domestic violence related cases. Detectives Stephanie Cisco and Brett Kniss serve as the Department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators, focusing on investigating and arresting child sex predators who use computers and the Internet to exploit children.

All five recipients recently attended The NLC PROTECTS training in East Tennessee where they learned advanced investigative and evidence-gathering techniques for catching child predators.

National Seminar Sessions

The National Law Center for Children and Families is pleased to announce the presentations that will be featured at the NLC PROTECTS National Seminar.  Attendees will be able to choose which sessions to attend, thereby tailoring the training to their role in law enforcement.  Additionally, many of the sessions will be repeated to ensure that all interested participants may attend.

 

Time Schedule

Tuesday, January 20th:  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, January 21st:  8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 22nd:  8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

 

A continental breakfast, plated lunch, and snacks are provided free of cost to all attendees.  Each session, except the opening plenary, will run for 90 minutes.  A 30 minute break will be provided between each session.  Prior to the training, all registrants will receive a detailed agenda with specific time slots noted.

NLC at NW3C Conference

The National Law Center for Children and Families is proud to announce that it will be represented at the National White Collar Crime Confernce.  This conference will be held in Memphis, Tennessee the week of October 6, 2008.
