Alexandria, Virginia - The National Law Center for Children and Families is proud to announce a partnership with Branch Banking and Trust Company, better known as BB&T Bank. BB&T has agreed to sponsor the activities of the National Law Center in its production of a resource for Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement officers as they combat child sexual exploitation.

In 2007, the National Law Center partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to update a series of legal manuals for law enforcement professionals outlining state laws on child sexual exploitation crimes. To date the NLC has updated 6 manuals using private funds from NLC supporters.

Seeing this work, BB&T Bank has joined in support of this project by underwriting the legal research for the Virginia state manual. "BB&T is proud to sponsor the National Law Center in its efforts to educate law enforcement and prosecutors across the nation who defend children and families," said Don Strehle, Regional President for BB&T Bank.

"It is an honor for us to have a great corporate citizen like BB&T support our work defending children across Virginia," said Richard R. Whidden, Jr., NLC Executive Director. "We thank BB&T for its generous contribution."

With $130.8 billion in assets, BB&T Corporation is the nation's 14th largest financial holding company. It operates more than 1,500 financial centers in 11 states and Washington, D.C. More information about the company is available online at www.BBT.com .

The National Law Center for Children and Families is a non-profit corporation headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. It is the source for experienced assistance and training in the law enforcement and legal profession's efforts to defend children from sexual exploitation.
