District of New Jersey and NLC Team Up for Successful Training |
|
|
|
On January 22-23, nearly 100 law enforcement officers and prosecutors from New Jersey and Pennsylvania came together in Trenton for the 11th NLC PROTECTS Seminar.
Co-sponsored by the United States Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, the seminar was well received. Comments received from attendees include:
- I would recommend [this training] to new people beginning to investigate child exploitation crimes.
- As a supervisor, I will indeed send people to future NLC seminars.
- Best overall training I've attended; great job gathering speakers with unbelievable experience and knowledge.
Attendees heard from a number of local speakers including Raymond Massi, Law Enforcement Coordinator for the Southern Vicinages of New Jersey; James Plousis, U.S. Marshal; Gordon Samartino, Detective Sergeant for the New Jersey State Police; and Thomas Larson, Matthew Kurzawa, and Paul Choinski from the U.S. Probation Office in New Jersey.
The next NLC PROTECTS Seminar will take place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 12-14, 2008.

The Department of Justice recently announced the addition of South Dakota and Oregon to the online National Sex Offender Public Registry, a cooperative effort between state agencies with public sexual offender databases and the federal government. The NSOPR Website, which provides instant access to public sex offender data from across the nation with a single field search, is now complete, with all fifty states participating. With over 500,000 registered sex offenders in the United States, the NSOPR is without a doubt an essential instrument in protecting our nation’s children. “The full completion of the structure of the National Sex Offender Public Registry is very good news for parents and law enforcement officers nationwide,” said Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. “The constant effort to safeguard our children from sex offenders is never finished, but today’s announcement marks a clear accomplishment on the side of protection.” For more information, please visit www.nsopr.gov. |
