20th Annual Crimes Against Children Conference Print E-mail

Registration for the  20th Annual Crimes Against Children Conference is now open.  This conference is produced by the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center and the Dallas Police Department.

 August 11-14, 2008

Hyatt Regency Reunion Hotel; Dallas, TX 

 The featured workshops are designed to meet the needs of law enforcement officers, child protection caseworkers, children's advocacy center staff, victim advocates, prosecutors, medical professionals, and therapists. 

The National Law Center for Children and Families will be represented at this conference.  On August 13th and 14th, NLC Associate Counsel and NLC PROTECTS Program Director Tiffany Richards will make a presentation on how to find and apply for grants.  NLC Executive Director Richard Whidden will also be at the conference to discuss the National Law Center's resources and training opportunities.  If you attend the conference in Dallas, please stop by to say hello.

NLC Applauds U.S. Supreme Court Ruling 

 in Child Pornography Promotion Case

Court upholds criminal penalties for "pandering" illegal material

 ALEXANDRIA, Va. - May 19, 2008 - The National Law Center for Children and Families (NLC), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to combating child sexual exploitation, applauds today's Supreme Court ruling as a victory in the fight to protect children.

The 7-2 ruling in United States v. Williams upheld provisions of the PROTECT Act of 2003 that had been struck down in 2006 by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.  The case focused on the legality of promoting or "pandering" child pornography independent of possessing such materials.
